Provence Wine Tour

DAY 1 Olive Oil & Wines of Les Baux de Provence

 Visit Chateau d’Estoublon

Your Ultimate Provence Wine tour begins at the chateau Estoublon.  An exceptional domain at the foot of the Vallée des Baux de Provence. It is a large property of which over 100 acres are dedicated to olive trees classified in the AOC Vallee des Baux. Strolling through the park or in their shop, we will have time to taste both their wines and the olive oils.

Lunch at the elegant gastronomic restaurant at le Vallon de Valruges.

Their chef Thibaut Serin Moulin has earned 3 Gault et Milau chefs hats. Located on the outskirts of St Remy de Provence overlooking the Alpilles. The hotel and spa are a stones’ throw from the Van Gogh route. Lunch includes a three-course menu with beverages.

After Lunch Free time to explore the charming town of les Baux de Provence.

Cellar visit and tasting at Chateau Romanin is a great addition to your Provence Wine Tour. This beautiful wine estate stands isolated in the middle of the wines, olive and almond trees with a breathtaking tasting cellar buried in rocks under the ruins of 13C Knights Templars’ castle. Enjoy the beautiful view of the vineyards and the Alpilles from a newly constructed tasting room above chateau’s wine cellars. A tasting of Provence wines will be served along with some savory snacks.

Return to your hotel in Marseilles

DAY 2. Bandol, Cassis and the National Calanques Park

Depart in the morning towards the Bandol region.

Visit the Domaine de Fregate

Between St Cyr sur Mer and Bandol, perched on the hills which overlook the sea. It is perfectly situated for the climate, a high level of sunshine, the diversity of soils, which favor the AOC Bandol wines.

Frégate comes from old Provencal word fragato which means to break. Breaking up the stones in order to plant vines. But legend gives the name to several ships, which were run ashore on its banks, which is where today’s label comes from.

Today the vineyard makes up 26ha of clay and limestone, and stones, rich in siliceous elements, extremely arid with a very low yield. This area is shielded from harsh weather by the mountainous amphitheatre surrounding. The mistral still plays a starring role in the local climate however. Their main grape varieties are Mourvedre (75%), Grenache and Cinsault.

Lunch at La Villa Madie, a two Michelin star gastronomic restaurant or a picnic on the beach in Bandol.

Clos Sainte Madgaleine: Enjoy a tour and a tasting at this top Casis producer known for their fresh white wines. One of the oldest AOC Cassis vineyards and the only one set right at the water’s edge. This unusal location undoubtedly adds to the quality, natural flavour and typical character of the wines. The Sack-Zafiropulo family manage this exceptional organic estate situated in the Calanques National Park, well known for its wonderful landscapes and its wide biodiversity. 20 hectares (49,4 acres) facing the Mediterranean Sea. Most of the parcels, which are on average 15 to 40 years old, are planted in terraces on the slopes of the Cap Canaille.

Return to Marseille in the afternoon. Time to relax before dinner
